Marketing Consulting Group's researchers conducted a comprehensive marketing research of the market for translations to/from foreign languages in Ukraine.

The main objective was to determine the prospects of opening a new translation bureau in Ukraine and to find an unoccupied niche in this market (regarding languages and/or translation fields).

To achieve this goal, the following research and search-analytical work was carried out:

  1. Information analysis on the internet, use of data from previously conducted research, analysis of information on the websites of translation bureaus/language agencies
  2. Requesting information about services from translation agencies (mystery shopper method) to analyze the level of service provided by them, level of communication with the client, and prices
  3. Conducting expert interviews, and interviews with translators

Results

  • The client received information about the translation market volume for 2015, about the main market trends during the 2014-2015 crisis period; and a list of the main market players
  • The main market players were analyzed by the number of full-time and freelance employees, service price levels, number of translation directions (subject areas, languages), stated advantages, customer service level, promptness of responses to client inquiries, social media activity, form of ownership, and payment terms and options
  • The market was studied from the perspective of full-time and freelance translators: payment terms, settlement procedures, and employee preferences
  • Recommendations were provided to the new translation bureau.
