Socio-political research
Socio-political research provides information on public perception of the political sphere: processes and phenomena, persons and groups, problems and solutions. The results of such studies make it possible to reveal the patterns of occurrence of certain phenomena in society, the influence of certain types of political culture of the population on political behavior.
Tasks
- Studying the opinion of the population or its individual groups regarding state policy, political leaders, draft laws or individual decisions, foreign policy, various aspects of domestic policy.
- Study of public awareness of certain political decisions and processes.
- Studying the opinion of the population about the meaning and consequences of political processes.
- Identification of the motivation and features of political choice, models of participation in the political life of society.
- Study of the main sources of obtaining political information, as well as factors that shape political orientation.
- Adaptation and modernization of the political marketing campaign for different segments of the electorate.
- Testing and evaluation of political goods — programs, slogans, advertisements, ideas, etc.
Basic methods of socio-political research
- Quantitative surveys
- Quality interviews
- Focus groups
- Observation (attendance at meetings of various social and political organizations, rallies, etc.)
- Experiment (fixation of reactions to certain slogans that are spread in social networks or on the streets, organization of flash mobs)
- Discourse analysis (identification of latent values, goals, political orientations of politicians by analyzing the texts of political programs, speeches, debates, speeches, etc.)
- The comparison method (analysis of the dynamics of changes in the political orientations of various population groups based on the results of previous and current studies)
In our work, we adhere to the principle of compliance with the Code of Professional Ethics of Sociologists (approved by the fifth congress of the Sociological Association of Ukraine on May 20, 2004 in Kyiv).
We use all analytical methods, namely: correlation, regression, factor, cluster, discriminant analysis, time series, construction of neural networks and decision trees, etc.
